What Makes You Cry?

What makes you cry?

For me it’s some of the usual suspects: onions, weddings, funerals, my son’s music, my daughter’s dancing.

As of yesterday, it’s also Presidential inaugurations. Congratulations, Mr. President. We are with you.

  1. Me too, Susan. My husband and I watched the inauguration, and was moved and inspired by his speech. It was wonderful, and we never been more proud of being an American citizen.
    Cheers,

  2. me too! I feel like a huge blanket of shame has been released. Congratulations and Godspeed President Obama!

  3. Susan, even in a small country like Holland we’ve followed the elections and looked, accompanied by our children, at the inauguration.

I hope Obama will succeed where Bush failed but it’s a heavy burden on the shoulders of one man.

  4. I am so proud to have lived in this moment of American history. I agree, an era of shame is passed. This is definitely an event worthy of joyful tears.

  5. I don’t cry often. Yesterday I was all lumpy-throated and misty-eyed.

  6. I cry when I realize how blessed I am.

Watching President Obama take his oath of office I was reminded of one thought: fresh air.

    Pure. Simple. Free.

  8. I had tears streaming down my face while I watched President Obama take the oath. Like Margie, it was like a heavy weight was lifted from my back and the air was crisp and clean again.

  9. I cried for a full week when he was elected, and since the inauguration I’ve shed a good deal of tears.

    tears of joy and hope.

  10. Agreed! Lots of tears on inauguration day. Lots of prayers for Barack Obama and his beautiful family.

  11. And so say I; just hope the knuckle heads in congress and the usual detractors realize we are knee deep in the s*#t and need to stop bickering over nonsense, as we are tittering on the abyss, depression etc…

  12. Yep, I had to go to class with tear-stained cheeks and a dopey grin on my face. I swear everyone was glowing that day, like just for one day, the petty little things didn’t matter.

Until I heard the news about our fine mayor in Portland. But the day was awesome until then. :)

  13. Yes, January 20 was a good day in America.
Only time will tell whether it was a good day for America.
For the sake of our country, I hope so.
