What’s the coolest thing about Carol Peterman of TableFare being the winner of the Bread Science book giveaway? I’m hoping that for Carol it will be reading and learning from Emily Buehler’s great book (available here, if you’re not Carol). But for me, it was that I had actually met Carol in person only a few hours before I did the random drawing, at the International Food Blogger Conference in Seattle.

It was a weekend filled with speakers, food (bread above by Bakery Nouveau), and wine, all of which was lovely. But the thing that stood out the most for me was meeting some terrific people with terrific blogs. Check these out; I can tell you that they are written by winning people:

    Susan- it was so great to meet you. What a fun weekend, wasn’t it? I’m still reeling with excitement at all I learned (and that goodie bag!) Now I’ll have to visit your blog more often & get bread-inspired!!

    It was so much fun getting to meet and hang out with you (and all the bloggers you listed)! The goodie bag was great, but making all these new friends was the best part!

    Hi Susan – I’m not sure if we met or not at the IFBC (there were so many faces and names to remember) but thank you for including me in this wonderful blog post — I appreciate it. I had such a great time with everyone in Seattle, and as Lori said above, I too will come back to your blog to get yeast baking tips. Really great blog!

    It was wonderful to meet you. The conference was mind-blowing but the best part was realizing that behind every cool blog, was an even more amazing person.

    PS: I am totally drooling over your blog.. You are like the queen of understatement… you have some seriously “mad” baking skills..

    It was great to meet you too, albeit short. Would love to see you again if you’re in town :)
    It’s so hard to talk to all the people during a conference. A friend of mine says it’s like speed dating. There’s something to it.
    And i still need to find time to search for that bread recipe i could recommend to readers on my blog. i do so want to encourage people to bake bread at home. I need a really easy one. if you bump into one let me know?

    The Bread Science book is great! I am almost through the nitty-gritty science chapter and have learned so much about yeast, gluten, sugars, molecules, bonds, and all sorts of other factors influencing bread. Emily Buehler gives the full story with loads of bibliography references (I love a good bibliography!) The heavy science is nicely packaged into a chapter that is not a prerequisite to actually using the book to bake bread; she even suggests if you want to get to baking, just jump ahead to the other chapters. I have no doubt I will be turning out some great bread as I work my way through the book. Thanks again Susan for the book, and it was great to meet you at the conference.
